Long before there was an internet, before the Giants played in San Francisco, even before most people had FM radio, Classical KDFC was here! On September 1, 1948, we went on the air for the first time; classical then and classical now! On Saturday, we celebrated by highlighting 70 great years and the rich heritage of classical music in the Bay Area, featuring recordings by a musician or ensemble with a special relationship to the Bay Area – and to KDFC. Be sure to check KDFC’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to join in the fun. Do you have any great memories from the last 70 years of KDFC? Let us know below!
