For years, I’ve heard from our listeners how much they enjoy sharing their love of classical music with their grandkids. As a new grandmother, I’m now experiencing that joy for the first time. My little Logan is only five months old, but there’s no question that he loves music! One of his favorites sounds is his Grandpa singing Cal Fight Songs and a special Grandpa version of the Scottish folksong “Loch Lomond” that subs in Logan’s name for “Lomond”. My husband has a beautiful voice. I do not. Fortunately, there’s Classical California and, of course, thousands of great recordings. I hope you enjoy the attached playlist of classical music that I’ve selected especially for Logan and for the little ones in your life:
A sleeping baby is a wonderful thing, but there are times when they just have to dance. Here's the iconic Pizzicato Polka by Leo Delibes, perfect for tip-toeing through the tulips!
The Sabre Dance by Khachaturian.Running-around music to wear out your little conductor.
Patrick Stewart narrates Prokofiev's sweet intro to the orchestra, Peter and the Wolf
Joanna Lumley narrates Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals, another thinly-disguised intro to all things orchestra.
Slowing down with the lovely Intermezzo from Bizet's Carmen
Berceuse is Lullaby in French and this one comes from Gabriel Faure.
Gershwin's first "classical" piece, the Lullaby for Strings
Watch Yo-Yo Ma play the Brahms Lullaby on his cello, Good Night!
