89.9 FM is Back On the Air

Pop CultureCommunity

After a multi-day outage due to the North Bay fires, 89.9 FM is back on the air in the wine country. Our engineers will continue to assess the situation over the next few days.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Below are answers to common questions:

Why did 89.9FM go off the air?

The fires in the area got close enough to cause a power outage at the transmission site, and we couldn’t access the site to refuel the generator for emergency power.

What was holding up the fix?

All access roads were closed due to the North Bay fires. Our engineers were unable to access the tower site.

Why did I hear another station on 89.9FM?

When KDFC is broadcasting on 89.9FM, you should only hear us. However, when our signal is down completely, another distant station on the same frequency will bleed through in some of our coverage areas.

How did 89.9FM come back on the air?

Power was restored to the generator the evening on Monday, October 16.

What’s next?

Our engineering team is dedicated to quickly and effectively assessing the condition of our equipment and ensuring, within reasonable abilities, that 89.9FM is in excellent working order.
