The next season of the Green Music Center has been announced, the first planned by Executive Director Jacob Yarrow, with a mix of classical, jazz, world, theater and dance. There are 35 performances between September 15th, and next May 9th. They’re also going to try a series called ‘The Loft’, performances which will allow audience members to sit on stage and in the choir loft, for a more intimate view of the action.

The Brentano String Quartet is the first chamber ensemble of the season, at the end of September. They’ll be playing Dvorak, Bartok, and Mendelssohn in Weill Hall. In March, the cozier confines of Schroeder Hall will have the Delphi Trio play piano trio works of Schumann, Schubert, and Canadian composer Ka Nin Chan. Kronos Quartet plays a concert at the end of the season with their frequent collaborator, Persian singer Mahsa Vahdat, in a program called “Music for Change: The Banned Countries.” The repertoire will be from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. Taiwanese-American pianist Steven Lin plays in October, and in November, Peter Serkin will play a recital to make up for the one he had to cancel last Fall because of the wildfires. That program includes Mozart and Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Three major stars of the violin world are coming, with Joshua Bell in February, Gil Shaham in April, and in March, Anne Akiko Meyers and Jason Vieaux present a concert exploring repertoire for violin and guitar. The Venice Baroque Orchestra comes back to Weill Hall in October with Vivaldi Concertos – and the string orchestra called ‘A Far Cry’ plays Bach, Bartok, Glass and Golijov in February. Fans of choral music will have the German quintet called Calmus, an American Bach Soloists performance of Handel’s Messiah, and the ever-popular Tallis Scholars.
