Notes from the Fires host John Rabe has been checking in periodically with mother and daughter Nina Evtuhov and Sasha Schoettler, whose family home in the Palisades burned in January.

Nina is a sought-after session violinist who now lives in Venice, and Sasha is a clarinetist, just starting her last year at college, which is where John caught up with them.
