Last week on Notes from the Fires, we heard how a group called Altadena Musicians have helped get more than a thousand donated instruments to people who lost theirs in the Palisades and Eaton fires.

James and Hudson Marks, teenage brothers from the Palisades, were given an electric guitar and an electric bass, and host John Rabe hooked up with them over Zoom to talk about their music and listen to some groundbreaking guitar and bass players.

From the Marks Brothers to the Romero Brothers, we close today with the finale of Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto Madrigal played by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields under Sir Neville Marriner … with soloists Pepe and Angel Romero.

This episode of Notes from the Fires introduces us to Christopher Still, second trumpet for the LA Phil.
