Photos from KDFC Kids Discovery Day at the Tech

Over 2,500 of you turned out to join us for the second annual KDFC Kids Discovery Day at the Tech, on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at San Jose’s Tech Museum of Innovation! It was another wonderful event that introduced children to the joys of live music, the pleasure of making music themselves, and even making their own instruments.

The day-long event featured live performances by San Francisco’s Friction Quartet, the Discovery Trio from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, madcap accordion and tuba duo Hutch ‘n Spell, Brazilian music ensemble Grupo Falso Baiano, and musicians from Philharmonia Baroque and the Peninsula Symphony. Other groups participating in Discovery Day included Music at Kohl Mansion, Music in Schools Today (MUST), Music for Minors, and artists from San Francisco Opera who tested the children’s vocal range! From 9:30 AM to 1 PM, KDFC hosts Dianne Nicolini, Ray White, Rik Malone, Robin Pressman, Jeffrey Freymann and KDFC President Bill Lueth were heard live in action from the Tech!

Kids also had the opportunity to create their own music using digital technology, make their own instruments in an arts and crafts workshop, visit an instrument petting zoo, study the anatomy of a violin and participate in music story-telling, and singing workshops. All in all, a truly joyous day of music for children.

Check out some photos from the event below plus see more photos and videos on Facebook and Twitter.
